Sujan Ghimire was born in 1981 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Like lots of other kids he got his first experience dancing during school programs when he was quite young. Inspired by his mother, he began with Nepali cultural and Bollywood style dancing. After he finished school, Sujan pursued this field for six years; taking it to the professional level within his country. He began by teaching in local schools but soon moved into the entertainment arena – stage productions, music videos, drama performances.

One day he was invited by one of his students to attend a salsa dance class. Of course, he was interested to see what this new, Latin dance was like. He went along for the first class and was amazed! It was something totally new for him. He had never seen people dancing like that.

His talent for dancing was recognized by the instructor, Diego Saenz Guerrero, the first Latino Sujan had ever met. Almost immediately Sujan began to assist in all of the other salsa classes. He spent the next two years working for Diego's studio in Kathmandu. During that time he became a qualified salsa instructor.

During his time of teaching salsa, he has taught people from all different backgrounds and nationalities. There have been some students who did not even understand one word of English or some who have never even stepped on the dance floor but salsa has no boundaries. Seriously, if you can walk, you can salsa. Salsa is great exercise with loads of fun! It is refreshing for body and soul! Salsa is a social dance; a great opportunity to meet new, interesting people from all different backgrounds.

"I want to encourage all of you that salsa is not difficult. It is one foot after the other – just like walking. Come and taste once and you will see that you can't get enough." - Sujan Ghimire
